Our monthly meeting for April took place on Zoom with 53 attendees including our speaker in France and one of our guests in Israel ! We are fast becoming a worldwide WI ! Frances took us through the history and the science of pearls, some of it a bit yucky. Who knew that oysters can live to 150 years !! She demonstrated how we test if our pearls are real ( by rubbing them on your teeth to see if it feels gritty ) and then showed us the variety of colours and shapes that can be achieved.
We learnt that the best way to clean your pearls is to wear them as the oils produced on the skin are the best for cleaning. Frances' advice was to thrown off our clothes , put on our pearls and dance around the house ! Now that would be a vision to behold !!
