An Evening with Tom Way

Updated: Jan 23, 2019

Our January meeting was a talk by wildlife photographer , Tom Way, who regaled us with tales of his close encounters with wildlife in Africa and what it takes to be a Wildlife Photographer. He showed us the importance of light, the right angles and the emphasis on trying to compose a sellable image when looking through the lens. Tom described his change of career from working in a gym to travelling the world in pursuit of that special photo. He displayed some wonderful intimate shots of orangutans, a jumping penguin and his personal favourite - the lion. He also explained why he no longer has a soft spot for hippos, having lost £15,000 of uninsured equipment over the side of a boat whilst attempting to get the perfect shot !
